- Depressurize the unit.
- Cleaning out the headers and scrape down tube sheets.
- Clear tubes of any blockages (this may also entail the use of acids, high pressure water, drill rods, scrapers, calcite cleaners or scale remover)
- Visually check for leaks.
- Replace gaskets.
What is the working procedure of shell and tube heat exchanger?A shell heat exchanger uses water to cool oil. Oil is the shell side medium whilst water is the tube side medium. The oil enters through the top left inlet and flows through the heat exchanger until reaching the lower right discharge. Water flows through the tubes from the right inlet to the left discharge.
How does a water cooled condenser work?A Water-Cooled Condenser is a heat exchanger that removes heat from refrigerant vapour and transfers it to the water running through it. Having the refrigerant vapour condensed on the outside of a tube achieves this. In doing so, the vapour condenses and gives up heat to the water running inside the tube.
